Bandit is an Australian Shepard mix. he weighs 23 pounds, and is estimated to be 3 years old. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date. He was sighted roaming the streets of a rural area through the course of a year. Traps were put out for 4 months before he was caught. He came to a shelter, pretty much feral. Today, he will take treats and allows petting, once he gets to know you. He is currently residing at our directors house with another dog that is very fearful. They are each not making much progress as they have bonded together. We are looking for a foster or adopted who is experienced with rehabilitation . To prospective adopters;
It is true rescuers are more particular of who they adopt dogs too. We see all the horrible treatment of animals every day. We literally rescue dogs from the poor or abusive treatment of humans. In my personal opinion, society has evolved to where owning a dog is a right and privilege. Most people consider only what they want and not what is right for the dog. That is why once a dog is in our hands and consequently in our hearts, we make sure that anyone who adopts an animal from us has a good life to offer the dog. It is not an easy task. Everyone wants a dog. We try to screen people first before getting too involved with helping them find a dog, or we would be simply selling dogs. We are also a strictly a volunteer organization. Most of us work at least part time jobs. Our time to the rescue is valuable and limited. We believe that anyone who is sincerely a wonderful potential adopter, will endure the process.
