Darla is a 3 year old chihuahua mix. She weighs 9 pounds. She was taken to a shelter after having been hit by a car. Her owners never came for her. Her pelvis was broken in 3 places. x-rays showed she also has hip dysplasia on the right side with associated arthritis. She has been on bed rest for a long time healing on her own. She walks normally but may have difficulty when she gets older. She is a very sweat loving little girl who just wants a lap to sit on or to lay under the covers with you. Her adoption fee is $150. This is Morticia. She is a year and a half old Terrier mix. She is 10 pounds, very sweet and social. She loves to snuggle. Angel is a 3 year old Maltese mix. She was extremely neglected and most likely abused. The shelter said she was too frightened to be put up for adoption so they called us to help her. She turned out to be such a sweet heart. She still is afraid when you go to pick her up, but sit down and you have and instant lap buddy. She has been going potty outside and loves to play with another small furry friend, but could do well as an only dog with a lot of attention. She weighs 6.5 pounds and is still a little too thin. To prospective adopters;
It is true rescuers are more particular of who they adopt dogs too. We see all the horrible treatment of animals every day. We literally rescue dogs from the poor or abusive treatment of humans. In my personal opinion, society has evolved to where owning a dog is a right and privilege. Most people consider only what they want and not what is right for the dog. That is why once a dog is in our hands and consequently in our hearts, we make sure that anyone who adopts an animal from us has a good life to offer the dog. It is not an easy task. Everyone wants a dog. We try to screen people first before getting too involved with helping them find a dog, or we would be simply selling dogs. We are also a strictly a volunteer organization. Most of us work at least part time jobs. Our time to the rescue is valuable and limited. We believe that anyone who is sincerely a wonderful potential adopter, will endure the process.
